Funeral services will be held for Ervin “T-Boy” Chapman, 79, of Ville Platte, at Disciples Baptist Church in Ville Platte at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 23. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Chapman died Friday, November 15, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Ville Platte.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Louessie Richard Chapman of Ville Platte; two sons, Cursey “Billy” Chapman (Ruthie) and Donald Chapman (Wilda), both of Ville Platte; one daughter, Judy C. Doyle (Gregory) of Eunice; one brother, Goldman Chapman Sr. (Frankie) of Wallis, Texas; four sisters, Evelyn Chapman and Eva Chapman, both of Mamou, Errie Chapman of Eunice and Mary Thomas (Richard “Blood”) of Ville Platte; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cursey and Celestine Zachary Chapman.
Visiting hours will be observed from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Saturday, November 23, at Disciples Baptist Church.

MAMOU - A memorial service will be held for Morris Fontenot, 68, of Mamou, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou at 3 p.m., Saturday, November 23.
Mr. Fontenot died Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at Savoy Medical Center in Mamou.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Sandra F. Fontenot of Mamou; one son, Les Fontenot and his wife, Robyn, of Mamou; three daughters, Chantelle Comeaux and her husband, Darrin Menard, of Mamou, Deidra Metland and her husband, Steve, of Texas and Dana James and her husband, Larry, also of Texas; one brother, Jerry R. Fontenot and his wife, Dianna, of Mamou; eight grandchildren, Angelle Lacoste and her husband, Kenneth Guillory, Brittany Fontenot, Shyla Lacoste, Brandy Fontenot, Caleb Metland, Corey Metland, Lauren James and Rachel James; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Sarah and Blake Lacoste and Timothy Mochel Jr.; and five step-grandchildren, Brandon Naquin, Haydon Bergeron, Zack Ardoin, Destin Menard and Brooklyn Menard.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Delaide Fontenot; one sister, Verline Fontenot; one brother, Bradley Fontenot; and one grandson, Cody Metland.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home on Saturday, November 23, from 1 p.m. until time of services.

A memorial service will be held for Charles Glynn Demoruelle, 72, of Metairie, at the LaVille Funeral Home Chapel in Ville Platte from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, December 8.
Mr. Demoruelle died Thursday, November 21, 2013, at East Jefferson Hospital in Metairie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include three children, Donna Demoruelle Johnson and her husband, Paul, of Youngsville, Charles Derek Demoruelle of Metairie and Nicole Demrouelle and her companion, David Mims, of Abita Springs; two siblings, Joseph Walter Demoruelle and Charlotte Demoruelle LeBas and her husband, Bernard; and four grandchildren, Sarah Marie Johnson, Victoria Ann Johnson, Charles Joseph “CJ” Demoruelle and Jessie Beau Mims.

A memorial service will be held for Paul David “Party Time” Perrodin, 59, of Baton Rouge, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 27. Burial will follow in the Evangeline Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Perrodin died Friday, November 22, 2013, at his residence. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to all. His huge heart and contagious laugh will be forever missed by all those lucky enough to have crossed paths with him. “Party Time” was a fun loving soul. He loved nothing more than being with his friends, sharing stories and laughs. He was a hard core LSU fan and never missed an opportunity to cheer for his beloved Tigers. He never met a stranger and always took the time to visit with his friends, whether they be old friends or brand new ones.
Survivors include his parents, Jr. and Enola Fontenot Perrrodin of Ville Platte; two brothers, Ebby Perrodin and his wife, Lorraine, of Ville Platte and Tim Perrodin and his wife, Lisa, of Opelousas; one sister, Anne Winkler and her husband, David, of Baton Rouge; and his adoring nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mr. Ortego died Monday, November 25, 2013, at his residence.
Survivors include his wife, Leslie L. Ortego of Belaire Cove; his mother, Gloria M. Chapman of Ville Platte; his father, Jessie Chapman of Ville Platte; two sons, Anthony Marc Smith and his wife, Elizabeth, of Belaire Cove and Joshua Todd Smith of Ville Platte; two daughters, Karla Ann Ortego and Rebecca Marie Ortego, both of Ville Platte; four sisters, Belinda Berzas and her husband, Bobby, and Cynthia Fontenot and her husband, Jody, all of Ville Platte, Lorina Thibodeaux and her husband, Davis, of Gretna and Elizabeth Hammill and her husband, Bill, of Lafayette; one granddaughter, Kloe Ann Fontenot; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emery Ortego Sr.; one son, Christopher Guillory; and one daughter, Macy Ortego.

Mrs. Chaffin died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Resthaven Nursing Home in Lake Charles.
Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, R. E. Chaffin of Pine Prairie; two sons, Luke E. Chaffin and his wife, Jeanne, of Lake Charles and Les E. Chaffin and his wife, Kristin, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; two daughters, Karla Pearson and her husband, Bruce, of Moss Bluff and Kelli Ragle and her husband, Greg, of Longville; one brother, Larry Callahan of Texas; one sister, Rosabell Guillory of Vidrine; three grandchildren, Tye Ragle, Keiryston Ragle and Kaitlyn Chaffin; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee Deshotels and Effie Dupuis; one brother, Lester Deshotels; one sister, Murdine Guillory; and one granddaughter, Allyson Falcon.

PINE PRAIRIE - Funeral services were held for Jerry Lee Deville Sr., 64, of Pine Prairie, at Friendship Baptist Church in Pine Prairie at 10 a.m., Monday, November 25. Burial followed in the Addison Johnson Cemetery in Bayou Chicot.
Mr. Deville died Thursday, November 21, 2013, at Baton Rouge General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was known and loved by many. He was also known as one of the jokesters in his family. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be honored. He was a man who valued his family and strongly believed in being honest, hardworking, and just an all-around good man. His children will always remember him as a strong and loving father, full of courage. He had a passion for being outdoors with family and friends.
Survivors include one son, Buddy Deville and his wife, Jeantile, of Denham Springs; two daughters, Tina Harrison and her husband, Frank, of Springtown, Texas, and Bridgette Sam and her husband, Adrian, of Livonia; two brothers, Charles Ray Deville of Denham Springs and Tony Deville of Morganza; three sisters, Barbara Guillory of Greenwell Springs, Juanita LeBlanc of Beaver Creek and Lisa Johnson of Pine Prairie; 10 grandchildren, Seth Deville, Heidi Deville, Breanna McDonald, Ally Bines, Brayden Bines, Anna Cale Harrison, Ayden Rain Harrison, Alexis Deville, Alonzo Collins and Alayna Collins; and one great-grandchild, Hadleigh Kate Pellerin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Anna Deville; and one brother, Roger Deville.

Ms. Manuel died Wednesday, November 27, 2013, at Prairie Manor Nursing Home in Pine Prairie.
Survivors include two children, Nora Monk and her husband, Freddie, of Oakdale and Michael Manuel and his wife, Brenda, of Vidrine; four grandchildren, Karen Maricle and her husband, Justin, of Oakdale, Shane Manuel and his wife, Becky, of Moss Bluff and Tori Mire and her husband, Marty, and Casey Manuel, all of Vidrine; six great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily Maricle, Shelbie and Conner Manuel and Jordyn and Bailey Mire; and one sister, Uline Reed of Eunice.

Funeral services were held for Cheryl Ann Dupre, 57, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 4. Burial followed in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Mrs. Dupre died Sunday, December 1, 2013, at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Ville Platte surrounded by her beloved family. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She worked as an educator in Evangeline Parish for over 36 years, and her dedication to her students was never ending. That dedication was recognized and rewarded by her superiors and peers when she was named Director of Special Education by the Evangeline Parish School Board.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 35 years, Paul G. Dupre of Ville Platte; and their three daughters, Bonnie Dupre Courville and her husband, Kody M. Courville, and Kimberly Dupre Fontenot and her husband, Dr. Ian M. Fontenot, all of Lafayette, and Dana Dupre Veillon and her husband, Jordy K. Veillon, of Ville Platte. She was blessed with two precious grandchildren, Jack Joseph Courville and Lilah Kate Fontenot. They were the absolute light of her life. She will be mourned by her step-mother, Bess Fontenot of Ville Platte; and her two brothers, Bennie Fontenot Jr. and his wife, Diane, of Denham Springs and Jean Randall Fontenot and his wife, Camille, of Ville Platte. She also leaves behind a maternal aunt, Vinice Brown of Eunice. She will be deeply mourned by her dear friends, of which there were many.
She was preceded in death by her dear parents, Bennie and Mary Gussie Demoruelle Fontenot Sr.

Funeral services were held for Blaine Sylvester, 92, of Grand Prairie, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Grand Prairie at 11 a.m., Monday, December 2. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A loving husband, father, brother and grandfather, Mr. Sylvester died Saturday, November 30, 2013. He proudly served his country during World War II as a cook and instructor for the United States Army. He was an avid hunter and gardener and enjoyed caring for his livestock.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Lourie Sylvester of Grand Prairie, three daughters, Diana Lafleur and her husband, Winston, Maureen Douglas and Debbie Lafleur and her husband, Clyde, all of Grand Prairie; one brother, Bobby Sylvester of Grand Prairie; one sister, Allie Sylvester Jones of New Orleans; two very special brothers-in-law, Francis Richard and J.C. Sylvester, both of Grand Prairie; seven grandchildren, Cherie Lafleur, Missy Darbonne, Tiffany Fontenot, Joey Lafleur, Christy Lafleur, Angela Manuel and Leslie Lafleur; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Crawford and Agnes Fontenot Sylvester; his son-in-law, Travis Douglas; and two brothers, Lynch Sylvester and Burke Sylvester.

A loving mother, sister and grandmother, Ms. McCauley died Thursday, November 28, 2013, at Grace Health and Rehab in Slaughter.
Survivors include one son, Michael Saltzman of Slaughter; one daughter, Sue Fontenot of Slaughter; one brother, Burke Guillory and his wife, Brenda, of Carencro; three grandchildren, Justin, Ladaina and Jeremy Saltzman; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cyrus and Elise Beauregard Guillory; her first husband, Harry Fontenot; her second husband, Andreas Saltzman; one son, Eric Saltzman; and one sister, Geraldine Fontenot.

Survivors include her mother, Susan Attales Chapman of Ville Platte; one sister, Kelly Chapman Fell and her husband, Dustin, of Ville Platte; one niece, Alexia Fell of Ville Platte; and two nephews, Tyler and Andrew Fell of Ville Platte.
She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Marty Chapman; her maternal grandparents, Clarence and Ruby Attales; and her paternal grandparents, Laurel and Verda Bordelon Chapman.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home Sunday, December 8, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. The funeral home will reopen Monday, December 9, from 8 a.m. until time of services. A Rosary will be recited this evening at 6:30 p.m.
