Colby Braeden Fontenot

MAMOU - We are deeply sorrowed by the passing of Colby Braeden Fontenot, age 18, passed away on Thursday, May 04, 2017. Colby was a native to Ville Platte. A Mass of Christian burial was held at Saint Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. with Father Thainese officiating.
He was known by many as an outgoing young man who could make you smile with all of his antics. He loved to be around people. A few of Colby’s favorite pastimes had to be hunting and fishing.
Colby will be greatly missed by his loving mother, Misty Fontenot of Ville Platte; his father, Kevin Gradney of Pine Prairie, LA; his four brothers, Derrick Guillot, Keevan Fontenot, Jailon Fontenot, and Grayson Godeaux; his sister, Dalie Gradney; his maternal grandparents, Ferrel and Judy Fontenot of Ville Platte, LA; his paternal grandmother, Virgie Gradney of Mamou, LA; his maternal great grandmother, Estelle Bordelon; his aunts, Lindsey Fontenot, Nicole Fontenot, Georgie King, Debra Rollins, and Melissa Gradney; his uncles, Shane Deville, James Fontenot, Joseph Deville, Jerry Gradney, Kenneth Gradney, and George Gradney, Jr; and many more extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Paula Perron; his paternal grandfather, George Gradney Sr.; his maternal great grandfather, Murphy Bordelon; his maternal great grandparents, Gilbert and Carrie Perron; and his aunt, Anna Delafosse.
Visitation was held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 pm. Visitiation reopened at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 until time of services. Burial followed in the New Saint Ann’s Cemetery in Mamou.

November 15, 1937 – May 9, 2017
VILLE PLATTE-Visitation for Mrs. Mary Rella Smith Fontenot were held from 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 until time of service on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Ville Platte. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady Queen of All Saints on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 2:30 PM, with Father Mitchell Guidry officiating. Deacon Scott Peyton prayed a rosary on Wednesday at 6:30 PM. Rite of committal took place at the MB Fontenot Cemetery. Mrs. Rella was a woman known for her strength. She enjoyed going to her fishing camps in St. Landry and Melville. She enjoyed fishing and cooking, and if she knew what you liked to eat she would cook it for you. Mrs. Rella enjoyed the Cajun card game known as Bourre´. Her dog Poco was a cherished companion, and was very special to her. Her memories will live on through her family. Mrs. Rella is survived by her husband, Benjamin Raymond Fontenot, daughter, Darlene Fontenot Swartz and Husband John Philip Swartz of Mamou, sons, Carl Brad Fontenot of Ville Platte and Daniel Ray Fontenot of Belaire Cove, 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Adam and Louise Smith, Jr. five brothers and four sisters.

MAMOU - Funeral services for Carline Michel, 60, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 12, 2017 at The First Baptist Church of Chataignier with burial to follow in the Turkey Creek Cemetery. Ms. Michel a resident of Mamou passed away Tuesday ,May 9, 2017 at her residence. She will be sadly missed missed by her son Johnathan Clevinger of San Francisco, CA; daughters Natasha Fontenot and husband, Frankie of Chicot, Brittany Dupre and husband, Saige of Mamou; brother Julius Todd Fontenot and wife, Sheila of Chicot; sister Polly Ann Watson and husband, Rodger of Minden; grandchildren Trevor, Laia, Jace, Bryson, Lakely, Brittany; and godchild Harley Wiggins. Visitation will be held Thursday May 11, 2017 from 1 p.m.-9 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Chataignier, and will resume again in the First Baptist Church in Chataignier Friday, May 12, 2017 from 8 a.m. until the time of services.
